Class Focus - 4L

17 May 2017

In English, pupils in class 4L have recently finished reading Michael Murpurgo’s, ‘Today I Met a Whale’. The children have become incredibly inspired by this book and from this, we have gone on to research and learn more about whales living in captivity. As part of this project, we have looked closely at SeaWorld in Florida and the treatment of the orca whales. After discussing this with the children, they decided that they would like to write a persuasive letter to SeaWorld asking them to release the orcas that they are currently holding in captivity. The children have worked incredibly hard to produce letters which include emotive language, rhetorical letters and commands. Last week, we walked to the post office to send our letters all the way to America; we are currently waiting for a response!
