We're Record Breakers!

29 June 2017

Children in Years 5 and 6 took part in an exciting Guinness World Record attempt at Smithills Hall last Friday. Organised by Bolton Library Service and the publishers, Bloomsbury, the aim was to get the highest number of ‘Harry Potters’ together in one place. The sight of 676 (very excited) children dressed as Harry Potter was spellbinding!

In attendance was the Guinness World Record adjudicator; their job was to count (and verify) the exact number of Harrys (that was some feat given children find it hard to stand still!). The record attempt was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the first book written by JK Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. For the record to stand, each pupil had to be wearing a Gryffindor tie and glasses, and have a wand in their hand and a scar on their forehead.

Mrs Gavin, Mrs Wood and Mrs Hoolihan were really impressed by Ladybridge’s ‘Harrys’ – their behaviour and attitude was impeccable, and a credit to our school.

Mr Watson, Headteacher
